Common questions
Why did my file not get much smaller?
Some files are already compressed or contain content that cannot be reduced without visible quality loss. Local File Diet will avoid making unrealistic claims and may warn you when a target is too small.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Compression is designed to run on the device. Files leave your iPhone only when you choose to share, export, save, or send the output through another app.
Will the app change my original file?
No. Local File Diet works from a temporary local copy and creates a new compressed output. Your original file is preserved.
Why can a compressed PDF lose selectable text?
Aggressive PDF compression can rebuild pages as images, especially for scanned documents. The app warns when that approach may remove selectable text, links, forms, or annotations.
How do I remove local data?
Use the app settings to clear temporary files, clear recent history from the home screen, and delete exported files wherever you saved them. Uninstalling the app removes app-local data from the device.
